Orwell was the first writer who seemed to speak to me. As a kid from a working class background in Wales, I felt that the books I was reading at my London school mostly belonged to a world I didn't know. Orwell was different. I felt he understood me. Although 'Orwellian' now means 'Big Brother', and 'thought-crime', Orwell loved good tea, Cox's apples, and human decency. This is my tribute to him.
